Specializing in the repair, maintenance, and resale of power tools, Makita OY operates in eight countries, including Finland, Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. In the spring of 2025, the company implemented the OIXIO Cloud Payroll solution in three Baltic countries. With this change, payroll management was brought back in-house from an external service provider.
Makita’s branches in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania employ around 90 people, including both office staff and maintenance technicians. Previously, payroll was managed with the help of an external partner, but the decision was made to start handling the process internally.
Cloud Payroll for the Baltics – one solution for the whole region
The new payroll solution selected was OIXIO Cloud Payroll for the Baltics, which enables unified and automated payroll management across all three Baltic countries. Cloud Payroll makes it possible to harmonize workflows and processes across countries. Using a single solution provides better visibility and clearer reporting.
Cloud Payroll reduces manual work and helps minimize human error and duplicate data entry. As a result, payroll is calculated faster, and employee efficiency improves.
User support for Cloud Payroll is available in all three languages – Estonian, Latvian, and Lithuanian.
Smooth transition to Cloud Payroll
The project started on January 1, 2025, and the transition to the new solution was completed in April. The implementation proceeded as planned, with all data and processes transferred to the new system on time.
In addition to the standard solution, Makita’s Estonian branch adopted an e-Government interface that enables automatic data exchange with the employment registry (TÖR) and the Health Insurance Fund (Tervisekassa).
User training was conducted separately in each country as part of the project.

Payroll is now more efficient
HeThanks to Cloud Payroll, Makita OY can now manage payroll significantly faster and more efficiently in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Payroll has been brought back in-house, and the solution supports the legislation of all three Baltic countries, allowing payroll to be processed in one unified system.
The adoption of Cloud Payroll enabled Makita to:
- harmonize work processes and reporting,
- reduce duplicate tasks,
- increase automation.
