Baltic Agro: Breaking Free from Vendor Lock-In with a High-Value Business Central Transition

The Challenge

Prior to this project, Baltic Agro relied on a legacy version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The system suffered from a lack of maintenance, which severely hindered our ability to scale and evolve. We also found ourselves in a “locked-in” situation: our previous ERP partner restricted integration development, making a transition to a new service provider nearly impossible.

Choosing the Right Partner

We selected OIXIO as our ERP implementation partner for several key reasons:

  • Proven Expertise: We had already vetted OIXIO’s competence in previous collaborations, including the successful implementation of the eXtendo WMS.
  • Advisory-Led Approach: Throughout our partnership, OIXIO prioritized real business value over mere technical execution. Their focus on risk identification and transparent advice was invaluable.
  • Risk Management: Their consistent and professional handling of identified risks gave us the confidence that even the most complex challenges would be resolved.
  • HQ Endorsement: OIXIO earned the trust of our headquarters, Danish Agro. They were selected as our Microsoft licensing provider—a significant move, as the group typically procures all Microsoft licenses through a different global supplier.

This strong foundation allowed us to launch the ERP implementation with full confidence and minimal risk.

The Implementation Journey

The analysis phase was intense yet highly structured. The OIXIO consultants led the process with clarity, asking the right questions and providing well-reasoned solutions. The active involvement of our own team ensured that decisions were made quickly and were rooted in actual business processes.

From the outset, we adhered to a core principle: maximize the use of standard Business Central functionality and only apply modifications where absolutely necessary. While migrating and adapting legacy NAV integrations (analytics, transport, logistics, and third-party interfaces) added a layer of complexity, OIXIO demonstrated exceptional technical and functional proficiency in these areas.

The implementation stayed on track, meeting both the planned deadlines and the budget. We particularly appreciated the constant communication regarding project progress and risk management; it provided a sense of control and security throughout the journey.

Results & Impact

The Go-Live phase was a success. Although the first week was intensive as users adapted to new workflows, all issues were resolved promptly. The system has been stable since day one, and Business Central has become an integral part of our daily operations.

Furthermore, we are pleased to highlight that the final project budget came in below the initial estimate—a rare and highly appreciated outcome in the ERP market.

If you are looking for a reliable partner for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementation, we wholeheartedly recommend OIXIO. We value their professionalism and transparency, and we look forward to our continued collaboration.
